Original marble paper
Result of the diligent and meticolous work of a Florentine artisan, the marbled paper is one of the main materials of our workshop.
It allows us to create and model a wide selection of manifacturing starting from the basic covering of daily use objects to the great ability needed in the art of bookbinding.
Technically the process of marbling consist in spreading with different oil colours a gelatinous bath that allows them to float on the surface. Later, by using specific tools (such as combs or wands), the artist turns those amorphous colour spots into patterns which can be regular (as for the peacock style and the feather style) or more creative but very similar to the natural marble grains (the marble style).
At this point you put a paper sheet directly on the surface of the bath allowing the colours to stick to it. You lift up the paper sheet and you hang it to let it dry. For every paper sheet set belonging to the same combination of colours you repeat the entire procedure making every model an unique piece.
This paper features get transferred to all the products the we do by hand mixing everyday useful objects with artistic elements, such as the marbled papers.
